Hi all

I have a "Browning BDA" marked P-220, in .45ACP.
These had the european style, heel type mag release.
I would like to purchase a couple of extra mags. The Pro-Mag's look good ($!), but I need to know if they use a metal floorplate with a removable plastic base pad. Or if that big piece of plastic IS the floorplate.

Thanks all.

Their website doesn't show a mag for the "European" 220 mag, but it would surprise me if they don't have one. I have their mags for a Smith 4516, and the floorplate is plastic. FWIW, you will see much discussion to the effect that they are not reliable, and should only be used as range magazines. My experience has been one failure to feed, using a mixed bag of ammo (end of the day leftovers), being fired by a shooter who was not used to the gun. My five Pro Mags have fed about 2,000 rounds among them, and have never failed when I was firing the gun. It might be worth it to give them a call - their 800 number is at the bottom of the front page:

Thank you.
I went to a fairly well stocked gun shop today and looked at the Pro-Mags.
They didn't have the SIG models in stock, but everthing else was as you describe.
I also looked at some of the latest factory mags. (Stainless bodies and no weld seam on the back), They too had the all plastic floorplates.
Guess I'll have to find some old factory mags.

Mags for a 4516 are about as scarce as those for the European 220. I ordered five from a popular mail-order house (advertised as 8-round for the 4516) and they turned out to be for the 4506. A call to Pro-Mag got me the name of a dealer who had bought the ones I wanted. Called, ordered, - same thing. Pro-Mag swapped all I had ordered, and replaced them with the proper length mag. I would be surprised if they couldn't come up with something - remaining stock still on the shelf or even a floorplate swap that would work.
