I recently acquired a very clean 226 in .357 SIG. I got a good price as the previous owner said he couldn't shoot it accurately. I can't either. I am challenged to keep 5 rds on a 25 yard repair center even from a rest. I can usually hold the black with almost anything offhand. Ammo was Remington factory 125 gr hollowpoint (not the Golden Saber). The bore and crown look good and there is no play when the gun locks up. I can see no obvious reason for the groups I am getting. Any ideas?_______________________________
I should have added that the group spread is almost all on the vertical axis. This seems to suggest inconsistant lock up, but I can find no reason for it.

You might try some of the el-cheapo Winchester white box ammo too. Also, pull your target back in to about 10 yards and see if you can hit paper there and what the POI is at that distance.

Update - Today I installed the .40 S&W barrel and the gun produced excellent groups. Apparently the .357 SIG barrel (or my choice of ammo) is the source of the poor accuracy.
