My pet project has finally come to fruition, this is my take on what the ASP would have been like in 2000, after discussing the virtues of many firearms and finally ruling out polymer framed pistols and even the P7 (impossible to machine), the best base gun we came up with was still a S&W, and a superb combat pistol in it's own right (after all it was Smiths clone of the original ASP). It really is a homage or retro piece, proving that the original Seventrees design was way ahead of it's time.

I didn't do the work myself, I just pointed and said "no not like that" alot.

The grips are the original Smith wraparound jobbies, this took loads of work, probably more so than anything else, we just added a plexi-glass insert and did alot of sanding to get rid of all the checkering, the angle, although looking strange from side on perspective shows more of the mag on the right than the left, doesn't look symmetrical, but when you are shooting it and need to check the contents, you don't have to turn your hand away from the target as much, practicality over prettiness.

I like the guttersnipe, lets me see what I'm aiming at, which is great when its a moving target. Tried to fit one to my M8, but I'd need to chop the P7 more than the sight for this to work.

Myself and the local RN Service Armorer did the work. All the principles involved can be applied to most pistols, and easily to the two you have in mind, it just needs time, alot of research and a good pistolsmith to carry out the work. There is a custom maker your side of the pond that makes the Gutter-snipe sight from aluminum, you can find his details somewhere in an old thread about Paris Theodore.
