41 ejection port

Has anyone experimented with undercutting on the 41 barrel tang over the breech to open the ejection port?

Also - What is the reason for the diagonal scribed cuts on the top of the slide and under the barrel tang? Just curious.

I have an older 41 that I bought used. The overhang is cut out some, like you are proposing, apparently to facilitate ejection. I have a newer 41 without the cut out. I also have a Clark barrel with no overhang at all. They all work fine, but boy do I love that Clark barrel.

mod 41 extraction

In the early days before I figured out why the pistol caught empties crossways by the new round coming up, I tried milling out sections of the rib and also angleing the underside of the rib in the ejection area. Finally I decided to solve this problem once and for all. When you have a pistol doing this check the end play in the extractor. If their is endplay thats the culprit. To prove this put a dummy round in and slowly draw the sslide back. the round will probably fall into the mag. The case rim has a radius and thus allows the case to come out of the headspace and fails to get to the ejector in line. You must shrink the extractor so it holds the emty case tightly. If you require more advise on this problem let me know. I have explained this solve many times.
