I need to remove the barrel from my 2206. I have the barrel loose but when I try to pull it back to lift and remove it, it can't come back far enough to clear the slide stop mechanism. I can't figure out how to remove the mechanism without possibly damaging something...there must be a particular sequence of steps to follow...the small parts/springs look like they could be easily damaged if you don't do it just right.

Can any one help?

Thanks...unfortunately the video only "field strips" the gun which is sufficient for cleaning...there is no attempt to physically remove the barrel.

The user guide parts sheet shows the slide stop parts but there is no step by step for removal and replacement. I'm thinking S&W doesn't want the user to go any further into disassembly that shown in the video and in reality most would never need to.

I'm thinking I might be able to get the barrel out if I remove the entire side plate leaving the slide stop assembly in place on the side plate...it would just be nice if someone could confirm.

I'm sure it comes out, but I never saw enough of these to have one apart.

dfariswheel I would like to thank you for the U-tube instruction showing the dis-assembly of the 2206, I had inquired as to whether there was a tool made by S&W and furnished for the removal of the barrel ring. It seems that a coin of the proper thickness will do the job handsomely, of course my question was asked pertaining to the M-422 specifically. This satisfies my question very satisfactorily so thanks again.
