| STI Trojan front sight not centered
I have a new STI Trojan 5.0 45ACP. The pistol operates smoothly and groups nicely with a wide variety of ammo. However, the groups impact about 1.5 inches left of point of aim. This pistol has fixed rear sights which appear to be properly centered. But, even with the naked eye, I can see that the dovetailed and pinned front sight is set slightly(my guess is between 1/64 and 1/1250 too far to the right. Is it possible to move the front sight? How? I suppose the pin must be punched out(it looks like a rather fragile roll pin) and then the sight can be drifted to the left. The pin also is so close to the left edge of the base on the front sight that one can see a distorted bulge in the left edge of the sight. Is this something that the end user can take care of or must it go to a gunsmith(I think a heavy-handed smitty would make it even worse)? How is STI about picking up shipping both ways on a problem like this? I might even be able to take a digital photo of the problem and send it to their customer service. This is a quality control problem that I shouldn't have to spend money to have fixed. Any advice?
