| Lug Fitting Tools
Hi everyone, I have been lurking on this site for quite a while and have learned a ton. Thanks to all the 1911 contributors. Over the last year I have put together a CCO .45 using a Caspian frame and Essex slide. It is running great and is now ready for final protective finish. I am starting a new project for a similar CCO in 10mm. I cast the slide lugs with Cerrosafe and detemined I need to move one of the lug surfaces on the barrel back about .003". I am thinking a hand file with a safe edge would do the trick but wonder if the locking lug file sold by Brownell's would be more appropriate. Has anyone used this tool? I don't have a mill. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. jaskew |

This is a real quick and easy job for any machine shop with a small lathe, or if you have a buddy that has one. It is a precise way to do the job in an area of the gun that needs precision. If you were local to me I'd do it for a Frappaccion, yep a sissy cold coffee, damn kids and what they can hook a guy on. |

I like the Brownell's file. You could get by with either if you have the patience for repeated test fittings. You can always take away more steel. It's a paininthebutt to put more back. Peter Zahn's comments are pertinent, however.
