| Glock 20 chopped to a Glock 29 "Longslide"
Has anyone done this? If not, who has thought about it and not done it, and why? I just jumped into 10mm with both feet--two custom Deltas and one of the limited production Kimbers--after several years of waffling. When I was last in Phoenix, it seemed that everyone shooting a Glock either had a duty gun cut down (22 to 23, 17 to 19 dimensions) or a carry gun-sized Glock cut down (23 to 27, etc) or was planning to have one done. A few had had 21's with frames cut down to '30 dimensions, often with grip reduction/recontouring as well. This would be, even on a new 20, a reasonable custom gun project. A quick scan of CAC (here in southeastern PA) and ROBAR price lists indicates that with frame modifications, front cocking serrations added to the slide (a personal preference), and a slide refinish this custom project might come in under $500. With a match barrel from Jarvis or BarSto, it would probably be about $700 or so. What do you gentlemen think? |

I carry one built by Dane. It is simply a great gun. The grip has been reworked too, it is the perfect carry glock, imho.

Thanks, Bruce. Did 10-round mags need any tuning ? Do you use the Sherer or Pearce extended floorplates/finger rests? My only, brief experiment with a used '29 found it to be everything NOT usually said about Glocks: unreliable, inaccurate, and unacceptable for everyday carry. I'd had three '21s over the years but sold them because of the difficulty in carrying a pistol so large (and I made a modest profit on the high-cap mags after the so-called Crime Bill passed) that was only indifferently accurate compared to my 1911s. |

Not sure what Dane did to the mags, but they work. Frankly, the thing has an ugly G20 mag hanging out its tail most of the time I am in the woods with it. I have a couple G29's and mine are very good pistols. The grips on those glocks need significant work though, imho, before glock can say they sell a good pistol...the grips are too fat, no matter the size of hand. |

I like the sound of this longslide version of a Glock 29---10mm's kick ass. Can somebody hook me up with a smith that can do this???---I have hi-cap LEO mags--will they still work if I want to carry them as spares? Thanks all---this is great stuff
