Wish I had a good story of taking a nice buck with my 10. I shoot a Caspian (early pre-production pistol, stainless frame with tool steel slide I was able to acquire some years ago through Gary Smith of the factory) equipt with Bomar sights. Just before opening day, I was firing it at a range with the heavy factory loads I intended to use on coast blacktails,(Winchester if I remember right) and suddenly had an "open" sight picture. The recoil had snapped off the rear sight blade! Bomar was quick to replace the rear sight, but not in time for the opener, when, you guessed it, I had a perfect shot at a stationary buck at about 35 yards! He fell to my tried and true '03 sporter, but you imagine my frustration. Bomar said at the time (this is probably 15 years ago) that they had seen a sight break like that only once before.

I took my S&W 6 1/2" 610 deer hunting last year and never got a shot-this year I did'nt take it -no shot anyhow. All the deer were over 150 yards out.
So. next year I will try again for a 10mm kill with I hope a global hunter-

The Global Hunter for deer next year is my hope too. I've taken deer with my Glock 20 and Dan Wesson PMA 10mm and think that the Global Hunter would be just the ticket. Let's hope it makes it to production.

I have been wanting a Global Hunter for deer and pigs now since I heard about it over a year ago. Still, there are none for sale <sniff sniff> and I don't know if there ever WILL be (despite what DW says for 2006).

Still, if there is, I'll take one, please

Global Hunter??

At the risk of showing my ignorance, can someone enlighten me as to what a Global Hunter is (or will be...it sounds like a pre-production prototype)

Global Hunter

The Global Hunter is a longslide EAA Witness pistol. Last time I checked their website, it was being offered in 10mm and 45acp. It's also available in a camoflague finish, much like the current Turkey shotguns and Compound Hunting Bows.

Thanks Jakes10mm. Do you have the website? I'll try " EAA Global Hunter" and see what I get.

The Global Hunter is not made by EAA, it was made by Dan Wesson.

10mm, one - mule deer, zero.

I posted this on another forum back in Nov. Here's the results of this year's hunt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another mulie succumbs to the awesome power of the 10mm at 0700 this morning.
I was bound and determined to get my deer again this year with my G20. I passed on several within rifle range in hopes of getting within range with my pistola. I had planned to hold out until tomorrow evening and then go get one with a rifle if I couldn't make a pistol shot. This unfortunate little fork-horn wandered a little too close. 180 gr. Hornady XTP traveling at 1300 fps at 112 yards through both lungs. He walked around for a minute then went down. I was sure I had made a good shot but I was still approaching him slowly. A dang pheasant jumped right out from under me and scared me and the deer both. He jumped up and started running and, as sure as I was that my shot was good, I didn't want him to get into some thick brush so I shot again as he was running at about 25 yards. The 2nd shot entered his left ear and came out his left eye. Sure enough, that anchored him
Second shot...
With this gun...
