38 Super Barrel Bushings

Looking for advise on a new Barrel Bushing for my Colt 38super Govt Model. The stock bushing has very loose tolerances; both barrel-to-bushing and bushing-to-slide. My measurements indicate that I need a bushing with an .698 OD and .498 ID. The only one I have found so far is the King's 38 super bushing. Anyone else making a 38 super bushing???

Briley

Briley sphereical bushing.. you can buy the bushing and a ring to match
and there is one other but I can not remember whom the maker was..
Might try EGW they have put out several good bushing's lately

EGW got my vote

Went with a EGW 38 super Bushing. Beautiful! A very tight fit in the frame and perfect fit on the barrel. Lock up seems unchanged and I now need a bushing wrench for disassembly. The bushing is deeper than the stock part, so I did have to take a little emery cloth the the leading edge....just enough to knock off the finish. Looking forward to getting it to the range for its first accuracy testing. I'll post my results here.

Made a quick trip to the range with the Colt 38super wearing the EGW bushing. What an improvement! My thanks goes to Geo at EGW....very nice bushing for my odd-ball 1/2" barreled 38 super. I didn't take the time to get a sandbag rest test. I was more interested it sending some bullets downrange to test function. No problems. From 15yds and 25yds off-hand, I was getting much tighter groups and many overlapping holes (something that didn't happen with the factory bushing). I am very pleased and recommend EGW. I will get out in the coming weeks and truly test the accuracy of the Colt.

Very Pleased With EGW

Just thought I'd pass on that after the 38 super bushing success from EGW, I ordered one for my 45acp Government model. Again, another great fit and close to 50% improvement in group size at 15-25 yards.

So.....I order two commander length bushings. One for me and one for a friend. Think I'm having a little issue with changing barrel bushings....but seems like a very reasonable ($$$) way to improve accuracy!

I'm sure the other guys are producing good replacement bushing too, but I'll stick with EGW based on my 100% success rate to date.

Good for you, dude. EGW does put out some good parts for ya, he makes some good tooling, too. A little trick to keep that nice tight fit is to make sure you turn your bushing down toward the middle of the barrel, when its not in battery, rather than turn it on the end. Not a big deal, but why erode that nice fit and tolerance he turned out for ya, right?
