Winclean BEB (Brass enclosed base) stopping power

Just wondering how effective this ammo would be as a defensive round in comparison to regular ball. My buddies and I use it at the range and in fact the box indicates "Target/Range" use but although it's not a true hollowpoint,it does have a flat open end profile. I would think that this would be more of a stopper than ball.Opinions please.

You would get more of the "thwap" effect on the initial entry into a soft body, but I can't see too much reason to use it as a PD round. It's profile is close to that of many HP's, so if you pistol feeds the BEB just fine, it should have no problems feeding HP's. Interesting idea though.

I do know a few old timers that will flatten the tips of SP rifle bullets in attempt for the same effect, a larger initial entry wound. I don't know that it helps much, it will change the ballistic properties, causing it to drop faster, and shed velocity faster. "faster" being a relative term, I doubt you'd ever notice the difference since it would be so slight. Anyone know the EQ off hand to figure the difference? I'd guess 1/4 to 1/2 inch over say 800-1000M.

Thanks Ron. So I guess it would be fair to assume that it would be at least as effective or slightly more so than regular ball which many people still use?

Sorry, sorry! I so often get on to a tangent of the original question that I never do provide a clear answer. If I had to choose over FMJ-FP or FMJ-RN; I'd go FP every time, provided all else is equal. Since the BEB has the flat face, it will dump energy faster into a body, and provide for a larger initial wound channel, and a longer secondary cavity. Thank help?
