.45 ACP wheelgun impressions

I am a .45ACP fan, and have carried a 1911 almost daily since 1968. Recently I acquired a S&W Model of 1989 in .45ACP with a 4'' barrel. It's a 625-3. This is the 1st .45ACP wheelgun that I have ever owned or shot. What a SUPERB revolver. It shoots one ragged hole groups at 50ft indoors off the bench. The trigger is light and crisp. The big N frame soaks up recoil. I used RIMZ polymer moonclips, which I was able to load/unload w/o tools, despite me suffering from M.S. and arthritis and having limited manual dexterity. I HIGHLY recommend RIMZ, they are a GREAT product and Denny is a stand-up guy ! ! I paid more for this weapon on GB than I would have liked to. Now I understand why these models are so sought after, and why people are willing to pay so much for them. IMHO, they are worth every cent that they fetch. This one is a keeper ! !

Congrats to you sir.
Then one revolver I wish I kept in all my years(well 2nd revolver) was a 3" 625. Got it when a friend needed money and sold it when I needed money. That was one nice belt revolver.

Thanks Sarge. Glad I didn't go through life without ever owning a 625. That would have been a great loss.........

I recently acquired an unfired Smith Revolver in 45ACP. It has a 6" barrel and is a beautiful piece. I still haven't fired the pistol as of yet.

It looks like to me it would also fire the 45GAP round since the moon clips provide the necessary "head-spacing". Has anyone ever tried this.

Thanks
Brad

I haven't heard of, or tried that. I do know that you can shoot .45 Auto Rim ammo, however. Good luck with your new revolver, I'm SURE you are gonna love it.......

While the GAP wasn't around when I had mine, I see no reason why you can't. Like shootin 38special in a 357mag.
