could u convert a 9mm XD?
Hi! I currently have a Colt Series 80 9x23 that I've been shooting for about a year. It is very accurate with the right bullets and loads at 25 yds. I have been thinking about getting a XD as my next gun and was wondering what caliber it should be. If reaming out the barrel would convert it to 9x23 or a barrel change can allow it to shoot 9x23 safely, that would determine which XD to buy. Is it possible to do this safely with the right parts either machined or purchased from the right people? Or is a 9mm/.38 Super 1911 a better place to start? I already have 2 1911's and really like the feel of the XD. Thanks for your reply!

I don't think you could make a small frame (i.e. 9mm or .40) XD into a 9x23 due to magazine dimensions. If you really wanted it to happen you'd have to start with a .45acp. There's another thread around here somewhere about turning a Glock into a 9x23, and the same general info would apply.

9 x 23
1911s/2011s can make major power factor with the 9x19.
If the XD is as strong as the 1911, Work You up a 9mm load, might get close to 9x23 velocity.
