Building a new carry gun

Howdy there folks, I've started making enough money to feel comfortable with spending a chunk of it. Im building a new carry gun to keep my skills sharp and to replace my G19. Im building the beautiful 1911 in the Commander size with a bob tail mainspring and a Unique slide. However, I have reached an interesting crossroads. I cannot decide between the .40 S&W and the .45 ACP. My main concern is getting mags mixed up, which can happen regardless of how careful I am, especially in a serious situation. Any thoughts on the .40 vs .45 in a compact form?

Thanks folks, pics to come, promise

IMO, KISS is the best.
If you think there may be a problem with mixing up the mags, then stay with the caliber (and so then, the mags) that you currently have.

A different caliber for the range is okay as a mix up is not as important there as it is in self / home defense.

My department carries .40, and once I get to investigations I get a lil more flexibility, and once Im Sheriff I can carry whatever I want. I think I'll be going with the .40 after thinking about it over the past evening or so
