| Question on Henry .44 mag.,
I've decided to add a lever action rifle to my meger arsenal and was thinking about getting a Henry Big Boy .44 magnum. My question is are they quality, reliable rifles or do I need to go with another make/cal. like a Marlin/Winchester/Browning in 30-30/30-06. Thanks for any and all in-put. Be Safe, Lazyace1975.

I have a friend that bought one and I got to shoot it. It's pretty, it's heavy, it's fairly expensive, and it seems to be well built. My friend is really proud of it, but I don't think she's shot it a lot (maybe 100 rounds or so), so I couldn't tell you anything about it's durability either. I shot it offhand at 50 yards and did alright, but that doesn't say anything about the gun's accuracy because me shooting an unfamiliar, unscoped rifle, OFFHAND is very unscientific. Personally, I'd rather have a lighter, handier levergun that I didn't have to worry about getting scuffed or I'd go with a slightly heavier bolt gun for longer range capability. BUT, if you wanted the gun for nostalgia or you just because you like it, go for it. I wish I could tell you more about it, but I can't. I really like the looks of, packability of, nostalgia, etc. of leverguns & single action pistols, and I have owned a couple of each, but they just don't seem to "feel right" and I just don't have a niche that they fill better than guns I've already got, so I end up selling them. |

I have know real use for one so its going to be a "Just because I want one because I like them " kind of thing. Heck, who knows , after I get me a good rifle I might just get an urge to go hunting  . I did'nt have the patience for it win I was younger but know I believe I just might can. Anywho, thanks for the in-put bhemry .More info. greatly appreciated. Be Safe, Lazyace1975.

They don't have the nostalgia look about them, but if I was in the market for a lever-action rifle, regardless of caliber, I'd buy a Marlin.
