| Inglis won't go bang
A fellow member of my club brought his late war Inglis Hi-Power to my match and the pistol would not fire 90% of the time. I am not a Hi-Power expert by any means, but have played with them over the years. I'm hoping you guys can steer me to the solution to the problem and to replacement parts if needed? The pistol is clean, really clean. It feeds with no problem Every thing is in battery on the outside when ready to fire. Hammer is cocked. 10% of the time, the trigger will drop the hammer. The rest of the time the trigger is pulled fully to the rear and nothing happens. It feels "mushy" On a 10 scale for wear, this pistol is a 9.8,...10 being brand new.It looks to have been fired very little. What I have found inside: With the pistol field stripped, the trigger lever seems to have excessive sideways play? It flops around and looks to prevent the sear from being disconnected and firing the pistol? Is this excessive play normal? If so, what else would cause the pistol not to fire when all is locked-up and ready to go? Are the Canadian Inglis parts interchangeable with the Metric pistols? Who/where can replacement parts be had? I did a search here and did not find active info on this problem. Thank you for your time and replies. Last edited by Rapidrob; 04-22-2013 at 07:33 AM. |

A fellow shooter informed me that the trigger lever is "sloppy" in the frame. he suggest that the magazine safety is most likely the problem. He says the Inglis pistols are known for this type of problem.

Could the hammer spring be weak?

It turns out it is the magazine safety lever. I have since fixed it.
