unlike NRA conventional pistol, where electronic sights, rails, beavertail grip safetys and the like can be added to your pistol (along with varied calibers), a 'Leg' gun would be one that complies with the CMP 'service' pistol requirements which would allow it to be fired in 'Leg' Matchesm or Excellence-In-Competition matches...

Leg or EIC matches are what need to be fired in order to earn the Distinguished Pistol (or Rifle) Medal...

I don't recall seeing a 2" guarantee on a hardball gun. Match Ball Ammunition is tricky: Rock River and Les Baer guarantee 3" groups.

You can do better, but you can also do a lot worse.

My Hardball gun tested 1 1/16" with Nosler 185's and N310. The best Sierra Hardball test ever is 2 1/2". To get HB loads down in the 2" area is really tough even if the gun is capable.

Both of these are pretty pricey but I have heard form master level shooters that these guys are two of the best. I'm also looking for a more ecconomical pistolsmith to make hardball and wadguns. If you find one let me know.

The guy who made my wadgun put 1.5" 50 yard groups in writing before he started. Cost me 600 or 700 dollars plus the cost of the base gun. Regretfully he died about 5 years back.

An EIC legal hardball gun needs a lot of things but pinpoint accuracy at fifty yards is not one of them. Three inched is plenty good enough unless you expect to win the National Trophy Individual Match at Perry. My hardball gun will probably shoot three inches at fifty yards but I never shot it from a rest. I did shoot a number of leg matches with 50 yard scores in the 90's and Distinguished with the pistol twice. The first time the match officials didn't send the registration fees to DCM and when CMP took over they disallowed my 30 points. The second time I did it in one year with three Golds. It's amazing what you can do when you are pi**ed off.

You might win a leg match at 50 yards but you will lose it at 25 yards. If you keep all your shots in the black at twenty five yards you will probably get a leg.

That would be some SERIOUS procrastination on the original poster's part, GR8GIFT.
