Comp Commander lock up
I have a Colt Comp Commander. And, for the first time in the guns life (outside factory test fire) took it out and fired it. The pistol seems to have a problem locking up during firing. It probably has nearly 300 rounds through it. But usually one round from every or every other magazine will fail to go into battery. I can feel the friction when I ride the slide forward on an empty chamber as it gets close to battery. I don't know if I should get a stronger spring or just take it to over 500 rounds first. I want to carry this gun. By, the way the only thing I have fired through it so far has been 230gr Round Nose. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have a really tight fit in the barrel to slide to frame area-- look at the barrel lugs and their relationship to the slide stop/ axis pin as well as the contact area of the barrel link on the pin. If there is a lot more wear/polishing on the link area instead of the lug area, the link MAY be too long, IF it is TOO too long, the axis pin will be over stressed under fire and have a shorter life! HOWEVER, if the wear/polish appears the same or is more apparent on the lug area, it's no worry just let it break in that TIGHT tolerance to perfection!
PS. be sure to use a good (tetra, gunslick, "white" auto) grease on the slide locking lugs up top as well as the aforementioned axis areas below during this first 5-700 rounds!
