| Colt Commander XS Sights
I just purchased an XS Colt Commander and was wondering if anyone knows of replacement sights that will fit it. I know it's a different set up than the XSE and would be interested to know if anyone knows what's available for the XS model. Thanks |

I just took a brand new set of XS sights off of my Kimber. They are a great sight at night and probably one of the fastest target acquisition sight at night (defensive target). Maybe it's my older eyes these days but in daylight or a lighted room, that rear sight is a tough one to find. If you plan to do any target shooting with the pistol you have in mind adding these to, dont buy them (target as in with a bulls eye). My one liner for why I got rid of them is "If I were shooting a person several times a month at night, I would keep and love them". Everybody's different though so just let this be a heads up and/or try them before you buy them if you can. Last edited by Swamp; 02-18-2010 at 06:36 PM. |

| Sights for XS Commander
Thanks for the reply, but I think you may have misunderstood me. I'm not considering XS brand sights, I'm looking for sights that will fit my XS model Commander. I'm told that the XSE & XS slots are different and so far I can't find any sights that are made for the XS. Thanks for the heads up on the night sights though. I appreciate it.

The only replacement sight set for the original "Colt Competition" sights used on the early XS Models and Defenders was a set of Trijicons I bought back when those guns were cataloged items. They fit and worked great - although their profile was slightly different than the originals. You could send the slide to Trijicon's Tooltech installer and get Trijicon capsules installed, which would give you a much better sight picture, particularly in dim light, with the white circles around the capsules. I seem to remember that Heine or some other sight maker made a replacement, but that was a while back...... CC |

I carry A Colt's Government model. It is the Stainless XSE model. The sights look like Novak, but I believe are Champion brand. The three "dots" are actually half hemispheres of plastic. Since the pistol groups literally one hole at 10-12 yards with Federal HST it was suggested to me, to send the slide to Trijicon and have ToolTech drill out the "dots" and replace them with tritium lamps. Another option was to replace the dots with gold. Just my two cents worth... Respectfully john |
