colt 32 new police for sale

Looking for a little more information on a Colt .32 Police CTG. My father in law has purchased this for my wife for Christmas and have been trying to find out what kind of ammuntion to purchase for the pistol. Serial number is 318789. If anybody know the age of the revolver and ammuntion specs that would be a great help. I think that it takes a .32 S&W Long but need to confirm. Thanks for any help

Colt made several models of revolvers in .32 Colt.
Since they all started at serial number 1, you need to check the model stamp on the barrel to ID which model it is.

The .32 Colt also known as the .32 New Police was simply Colt's version of the S&W .32 Long.

Thanks for the information. I will have to take a look at the revolver at Christmas. Over the weekend I picked up some .32 s&w shorts. The gunshop thought that was the correct bullet but said it would also shoot in a .32 s&w long revolver. Thanks again
