colt trooper value

I am trying to find a date of manufacture and value for
A colt trooper mk III ctg. Nickle plated 4" barrel.
Walnut grip. Serial J77197. My father
Has had it since 1976 not been fired
Looks like mint or close to it
Any advice would be appreciated

J77197 was made in 1972.

Value depends on the actual condition, whether it is all original (grips, sights) and whether it has the original box with papers.

Colt revolvers have been skyrocketing in value and it's near impossible to keep up.
As a general guess, assuming real mint, somewhere around $800 or more.
