Does any body know how a guy can get a Colt slide with a fading
Roll Mark redone? More specifically I have a Series 70 large letter slide with a roll mark that fades from front to rear.

Attempting to re-roll a mark almost always doesn't work, because of alignmment problems. it usually comes out looking like a double stamp.
Also there's the problem of finding a good stamp to use. Colt might be willing to do this, but it's unlikely.
There are two options:
One is to remove all the old mark and roll a new one on.
Second, there are gun engravers who will refresh the marks by hand engraving the lettering deeper. This is by far, the best way to go. Getting Colt to redo the stamp is very unlikely, and hand refreshing the lettering would probably be cheaper.
This is the method almost all gun restorers use.

Many engravers advertise in the better gun magazines, but I'd probably call Colt first, and ask who they'd recommend. Possible the Colt Custom Shop still does it.
They used to do first rate restoration of old Colt Single Actions including freshening the lettering.
