SAA Hand Spring
I recently purchased a new, 3rd generation Colt Single Action Army from the Colt Custom Shop. After shooting about 250 rounds, I managed to break the hand spring. I know that Colt sells a hand/spring assembly but I presume I'd have to have it fitted to the gun. That seems like a lot of extra expense just to replace the spring.
Can a user just replace the hand spring alone? If so, what would I need to do? The portion remaining in the spring slot appears to be staked in place.

You can go here and (at the bottom of the page -) or either a single hand spring, a set of 3, or a bunch of 10. This place has replacement hand springs specifically for your 3rd Model.
If'n yer "a-hem" 'Frugal' you could try this trick (then it'd be easy to fix, though never had one break again)!
Sorry it took so long to answer, never seen this thread before!
