Checkering a CZ-75B

Can anyone tell me how to checker a CZ-75's front strap? The "flare" at the mag well is going to get in the way of my file while cutting the vertical lines.

Any ideas?

Checkering front strap

Your best way to do this is by sending the gun to Evolution Gun Works, thsy do a beautiful job for about $175.00. You get what you pay for. To do this by hand is very difficult but can be done, you will have to do all the cutting with just the front teeth of the file. I have done this once on a Beretta but that was an alloy frame so the cutting was easier, however keeping everything perfectly straight was a real chore. I would suggest sending it out to those who are setup for this and who have a lot of experience doing these jobs.

Best of luck
Jim

I personally think that stippleing on a CZ looks pretty good, but then I've never seen a good checkering job before.

Yep, that's precisely why I wanted to see one. On CZ's and
Browning Hi-Powers I much prefer hand-matting or stipling.

What is the difference between hand-matting and stipling?

Thanks,

I'm not a 'smith, but have had many custom guns....it amounts to the same thing,
some call it one, some the other. I just used both terms to cover the bases 8) .

Ive hand checkered some CZ's that alread had the vertical serrations......CZ97, PCR etc.....
Ive seen one smith do the hand checkering......he used a rounded profile checkering file on the verticals....You can get them @ brownells.
Stippling is fairly easy.....but time consuming to do.
Shoot well......
