A casting is not as strong as a forging as a general statement so don't get too loose with the comparison. That said, the technology of casting and heat treating today far surpass the requirements of strength in a pistol frame so the issue is rather academic. An obvious case is the Ruger firearms, even the super caliber African big game Model 77 bolt guns have a cast receiver, as do the .454 Casull revolvers, etc. I have no concerns with a cast frame on my DW's. Even the Springfield Armory M1A frame is cast. Ruger does a lot of high-tech casting for the aerospace industry. One item they do is the compressor blades for jet engines. Next time you are at 42,000 ft. altitude in a 777 mid-way across the Atlantic look out the window at those cast blades spinning and pushing that puppy along at 550 mph.

DW frames etc.---
In a phone call I made to DW some time ago I asked the factory tech if my frame was forged or cast-I gave him the SN , moder and all pertinent info-he would not tell me! He said it didn't matter! I sold both my Dan Wessons the next week and have not bought any more yet! Secret stuff is for spys. Now that CZ bought the company and raised prices $ 300 per gun all I can say is good luck! These people have lost it.
