Dan Wesson 45 acp revolver

Does anyone have one of the 45 acp revolvers Dan Wesson advertised some years back?

I never saw one of those for sale, but did look at their prototypes at the SHOT Show when Dan Wesson was about to put out the .45acp "Bowling Pin" model.

I was more than a bit surprised to find that these guns had not been given any sort of a trigger job, other than an overtravel stop had been installed. The guns I handled had the typical heavy long double action that Dan Wesson was known for at the time. No way could anybody win a speed event with them! In fact this seemed ludicrous enough that I started asking the reps questions about that, which they tried to dismiss with a "Go away kid, yer bodderin' us!" attitude.

Came back just a little later with someone you all would know as a VERY fast action shooter, in fact he specialized in Bowling Pins at the time. Well, the DW folks' faces lit up, 'til he looked their product over and asked the same questions I'd annoyed them with earlier.

My point is that these guns could have gone over like gangbusters in the world of competition, if only Dan Wesson had brought someone on board who understood such things.

By the way I feel compelled to remind everybody that this all took place about three ownerships ago in Dan Wesson's corporate history, it has nothing to do with the present.

I special ordered one a few years back. It is true that they have a heavy trigger pull. Even with the heavy trigger pull it gives light primer strikes even to the point of missfires. It's pretty bulky too. On the plus side it is very accurate. Mine was made to fire .45 winmag, 460 rowland, .45 autorim, and .45 ACP. I don't think many were made this way.
