I don't see Sevigny winning ANY open class championships. Sevigny dominates the Stock Service Pistol or Production class but he is not winning any Open class championships last time I checked.

Hmmm...

OK - Let's take a well known 1911 shooter - Robbie Leatham. Leatham shoots for Springfield, right? And Sevigny shoots for Glock, correct? Springfield has a Custom Shop that does very good work, and provides guns to their shooters to use, to include "Open Guns."

Does Glock have a "Custom Shop" that makes the equivalent of an "Open Gun?"

I don't think they do. So whose Open Gun would we expect Sevigny to use, since Glock is sponsoring him?

Julie Goleski (sp) shoots an open Glock and works for or at least shoots for team Glock just like Sevigny

That, I admit, is something I didn't know because I truly do not follow that game very closely. I just figured that the sponsored shooters used guns built by their sponsors. Any idea who built her gun?

And wasn't there some weird contention about guns used at the World Games this year? Something about the CZ vs. Sevigny's Glock?

Anyway, thanx for the info - I wasn't aware that Julie shoots an Open Glock.

Julie Goloski took 2nd Lady Open at the 2005 World Speed Shooting Championship (Steel Challenge) shooting an Open Glock built by John Nagel of S & J Customs (aka Glock Jockey).

This was the final version of a design John has been perfecting for several years. After Julie shot the previous numbered gun she wanted to take it to the Steel Challenge -- John however decided to build her a new one which he did over a weekend (long weekend). Julie test fired it once then took it away to the competition.

John is now open for business with this final design and now has his components machine fabricated to his design instead of hand built.

Take a look at Julie's final prototype version and the new line of production open Glocks...

The trigger as well as the fact that Glock's are "top heavy" and 1911's are almost perfectly balanced. I would think the 1911 is the perfect gun.... of course, that's why I own four of them.

Dave won the 2006 Winchester World Challenge, Open Division, shooting an Open Glock built by John Nagel of S & J Customs (aka Glock Jockey).

Check out the movie (requires QuickTime).

Checked the results of the Winchester World Challenge and alot of the top names were missing

No Koenig, Jarrett, Leatham, Miculek, Racaza

Oh and I see Leatham won the 2006 USPSA Production Class Nationals shooting an XD...Sevigny finished 3rd

The OPEN class at the 2006 USPSA Nationals was once again dominated by 1911 users

Dave Sevigny
first to win World Championship shooting an Open Glock 2006.

So yes it can be done and I am hoping to send mine off to glock jockey eventually, they have some great looking and working weapons. I do not see where it's going to be cheaper than a 1911 though, but I'm willing to pay more for something more unique and I just trust my glock to get the job done.
