Okay, so the Taurus Millenium .45 is now out. It's smaller and more comfortable than the Glock 30, and still holds 10+1 rounds.

But, haven't had a chance to shoot one, and though everybody that handles it likes it, they all go "I'd buy it, but it's a Taurus"

Anyone actually shot one yet?

Yep, I waited for one. Shot 50 rounds of PMC ball and 20 rounds of 200gr. SWC out of it the first time I took it out, worked just fine...BUT it had the worst trigger pull I have tried since my HK VP 70Z. Cleaned it up real nice and sold it the next day...

Lousy trigger? It doesn't surprise me given that it is DAO. It could probably use some judicious polishing.
I've never owned a Taurus but I gotta tell ya this one has caught my attention. It seems like a well thought-out design: light, .45 cal., 10 round capacity, DAO w/o need to recycle if faced with FTF, loaded chamber indicator, spare mags, lots of safeties (perhaps too many).
I'm curious as to why Taurus has never had a more faithful following. Any ideas???

I really have nothing against Taurus, they make pretty nice revolvers, just seems their auto pistols leave a little to be desired. This is a striker fired gun, I`m sure a lot of polishing would help, but my old hands were not up to the weight of that darn trigger. Could be just the ticket for a younger man with better hands. Hell give it a try, price is right and it worked with everything I fed it.........

Waited a year to get mine, and its great. Long trigger pull is not a problem with some practice.

Taurus makes great guns, this is my third. They are rugged, reliable and affordable. I own other "designer" brand guns, but Taurus remains my favorite brand. They are the "old reliables" of my collection.

The PT145 was the 2000 SHOT show gun of the year.

Bought one a few weeks ago. The first two times I shot it I had 2 misfires and many FTFs. Also, parts of the composite frame chunked off—not sure if I bought it that way or if it happened while shooting. Taurus is replacing the gun. I hope the new one works better. When it did work it was a nice little gun.

Also, the unreliability of this gun is the reason I began thinking of getting a 1911; which led me to joining this forum; which has resulted in me thinking about spending MUCH MUCH more for a gun than I had ever dreamed of spending. Damn that little gun!

I now where you are coming from on the spending more that you could of dreamed of.I've gone from a $550.00 Beretta 96 to thinking about Wilsons,Les Baers and BCP Kimbers.A full house gun is in my future at sometime or another too.Oh how my wallet hurts already  .

I’ll try to give an update on the new gun Taurus sends. One other thing I’ll mention is that my PT-145 shot a good foot low at 15 yards; and at greater than 15 yards I was measuring groups with a yardstick. The gun I shot is truly an up-close-and-personal type handgun. The same day I also shot my Glock 17 and S&W 44 mag; both shot pretty much POA at 15 yards, so the Taurus really was shooting this low. I’ll let you know if the new gun shoots any better.

My thought right now is that if the new gun doesn’t shoot any better, I’ll keep it in the glove compartment of my truck, and perhaps take it when ATV riding or hiking, but I will not carry this gun on any regular basis. Having to aim 1 foot high at 15 yards is disconcerting.

Update:

Got the new gun today. Shot 250 rounds. No misfires, 1 FTF at round ~220, but that could have been a bad mag seat--I'm willing to forgive that for now. Shot 50 rounds of the ammo that was constantly FTF-ing in the othre gun--no FTFs this time.

The gun shoots low, just like the other one, with my normal site picture.

Overall I think it will be a good trail gun for hiking, and one I can carry all day when camping. I'll get something I feel more comfortable with for daily carry, but it's a nice little gun.
