Stun Guns and TASERS

Stun Guns use high voltage and low amperage to temporarily disable an attacker for several minutes. The stun gun does not rely on pain for results, but instead he is unable to produce energy for his muscles, and his body is unable to function properly. The TASER® is a self-defense electronic control device. It has almost 100% effectiveness rating. It combines the injury reducing benefits of traditional stun technology with a quantum leap in stopping power via new Electro-Muscular Disruption (EMD) technology.

Maybe You'd better try to sell your spiel to the Cop over in Winfield Louisiana...He was recently tried and found not guilty , Undie died from said Cops' use of a Taser

All the Hands I know that have been thru the Taser trainin' say it is painful....

I'm gonna contact Lt. Tommy Bolton , see if He'll have a reply to this

Just talked to Lt. Bolton concernin' the TASER....Not a verbatim from Bolton but close, " If He is sayin' a Taser ain't painful He's FULL OF $H*T , I've been hit with the Dammm things , I know"....Even with a concealed carry permit I doubt They are legal to carry and use in Louisiana....I don't think it is even close in efectiveness to the Snubbies Al and Joe are fond of for defense...or the 9mm Commander I like or possibly a 22 short

I used to be a master-instructor on taser. It may possibly be the most painful thing out there - my 5 second ride on the "lightning" definitely sucked. The good news is that once its done, its done. No after effects other than being amped up and pissed off.

Not sure which is worse: 5 seconds of lightning or a lung full of 10% OC.

Wild Bill - you keeping the troops down at Polk straight??

Taser - personalized?????

Said I wuzn't comin' back in here until a lot of things changed.....but Bill asked....

Disabling a person for several minutes???? Haven’t heard of that happening yet. MAKE a person not WANT to do anything for several minutes? ABSOLUTELY!

The TASER is a wonderful tool. Somebody once said something to the effect of...."Electricity is dangerous because it is colorless, odorless and tasteless".

I beg to differ.

While "ridin' the lightening", I saw multiple colored stars, could smell hide burning and had a very distinct taste of copper ....... all detected simultaneously in 5 seconds!

Why is the TASER so effective? The TASER is very effective due to NMI. For those that are unable to decipher that, it is simply Neuro Muscular Incapacitation. Big words for "it affects the exterior muscles of the body“. Locks the brain out and sends the affected muscles into "lock up as tight as you can" mode......for 5 seconds. Longest 5 seconds in the world!

Longer “ride”??? Personal ownership????

Sure.

For those that might be adverse to carry a shootin’ iron, TASER offers a “civilian” model. Just a little different version. Have to register with TASER before it is activated. Registration process keeps the bad guys from getting’ hands on one….or semi-good guys from usin’ it improperly. Can be bought on the internet..and I think I’ve seen’m for sale at Academy Sports. About $350- $400.…get registered with TASER and you’ve got the ability to give a 20 second ride to a less than desirable mugger type person! YES….A FULL 20 SECOND RIDE! The civilian version is designed to give the user time to shoot, drop it and run away! When you come back to the scene with a nice Police Officer, you will most likely find what was once your personal TASER…..mashed into a gagillion pieces. But, don’t worry. There are ways to identify your taser/cartridge that LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers) are familiar with. With YOUR copy of the police incident report…..fax to TASER and guess what????? They will replace your TASER free of charge when you show that it was used in self-defense!

So…..I don’t know about disabling a person for several minutes…..but it is a very long 5 seconds. In defense, I‘d have to say that anybody on the receiving end will agree that it would seem like hours! To quote quite a few…..

“THAT TOOK FOREVER”! "I THOUGHT IT WOULD NEVER STOP"!

I agree sir. Well put. Seems like those of us that have "seen the spray and ridden the wire" just know a little more. I will add just a note of caution for the civilian. Their version of the TASER, like ours, is not a replacement for main defensive weapon. TASERS have their limitations. They are not a panacea for the anti-gun crowd.

I know that modern pepper spray and tazers are the way to go, but....
Sorry, but bring a traditionalist, I liked the good old days of he-man cops armed with slaps, jacks, and sticks. (Slap gloves, blackjacks, and night sticks).

As in "Okay Louie, come on out or we're comin' in with sticks and jacks".

The modern Left of course hate tazers and if they had their way the police would be left with blowing holes in people with a gun, or using the same device Caesar's night watch used, which is a big stick with which to beat someone over the head with until they are unconscious.
