|  1917 colt revolver
Would any of you know where I could find and get a barrel for my Colt 1917 army 45 ACP revolver?

That's going to be a tough find. The supply of New Service barrels in general and Model 1917 barrels in particular have long since dried up. About all you see these days are barrels that are shot out, or are defective in some way, which is why they're for sale. Detecting a defective barrel can be difficult and it might not become apparent until the gunsmith attempts to install it. About all you can do is watch Ebay, the gun auctions, and post Wanted ads on the gun forum Classified areas and hope a barrel in usable condition turns up. Then you NEED to have a qualified pistolsmith who also owns the New Service size frame wrench and other special tooling to install it. Trying the old gag of using a hammer handle thought the frame window will almost certainly bend and destroy the frame, which on these older Colt's was pretty soft and easily bent or cracked. If you just can't find anything and you can afford the charges, a good pistolsmith can make you a new barrel from a barrel blank. It won't have the Colt stamps, but it'd make the gun into a shooter again. |

Ebay stopped allowing sales of barrels, triggers, hammers, etc. after the Virginia Tech murders. Is relining an option? |
