bhp trigger reset experiment follow up
follow up from my previous post:
1. The sear lever has three functions: a) push on the sear when pushed on by trigger lever, b) allow the trigger to disconnect/reset after firing cycling sequence is complete, and c) (for MKIII pistols) to unblock the firing pin when pused on by the trigger lever, or block the firing pin when pushed on by the sear lever spring. I had forgotten to test function c) after the sear lever modification...and discovered that the added weld was enough to move the sear lever and disengage the firing pin block. potential fix would be to add material in the area of the firing pin block, or to ad the adjustment setscrew where it engages the firing pin as well as the pocket in the slide.
2. I re-installed the magazine disconnect. Noticed some grittiness during the initial takeup. Polished the magazine disconnect contact surface, and the corresponding surface on the magazine. This helped the grittiness significantly, but there is some uneven pressure. I suspect it is from the magazine disconnect plunger spring rubbing against the inner diameter edge of the disconnect plunger. Not sure what can be done about this... any thoughts?
