colt double eagle trigger job
I would like to preform a trigger job on a colt double eagle (cde). However I've been unable to find any instructional material on the subject. I've had good success on 1911's and some revolvers where info. was available but, the cde is a different animal and the lack of parts necessitates precision. I've reduced the hammer spring from 18# to 13# and reduced sear spring tension with some success but the trigger pull is totally unacceptable. Any info. would be much appreciated. Thanks

This follows about the same standards as other DA autos.
For single action you fit the hammer and sear interfaces much like the 1911 hammer and trigger.
For double action, you do light de-burring to the contact surfaces of the draw bar, draw bar and sear etc.
In other words, remove the slide and grips (CAREFUL, early models had small springs and parts retained by just the grips and things go flying).
Inspect the action an note where things are making contact.
Use fine stones to lightly de-burr and smooth the contact areas. Do as little as possible and don't try to bring parts to a bright mirror polish. That does no good and often ruins parts.
You want reasonably smooth, not "like a mirror".
