| USP9 magazines upgrade help
How could I make a 10 round USP9 magazine into a 15 round one? Could I get a Wolffs full size 15 round spring and work it into a 10 round magazine body so that it could hold 15 rounds? What mods would needed to make it fit and work without any problems.

I wouldn't recommend doing that, since it is a felony. Only cops can have hi-cap magazines manufacturered after 1994, when the ban went into effect. The law specifically states that altering a 10 round mag to hold more ammo constitutes manufacturering a hi-cap mag. Maybe we can resume the spray and pray after this fall. |

Jester: Do you know what the law has to say with regard to using an unaltered .40 mag in a 9mm to gain extra capacity? Thanks in advance..... |

The mag bodies and floorplates are different between the ful-cap and reduced-cap mags. The .40 mags will work with 9mm rounds but don't function reliably. I have some .40 ful-caps that hold 13 rounds and I can get 2 more rounds in using 9mm, but as I said, not reliable. 2 extra rounds isn't worth the problems. As far as being legal, I "believe" it is since you are not altering a mag, but on a ten rounder you probaly would only get one more round.

Out of curiosity, have you had first hand experience with malfs using 40S&W mags /w an HK pistol? You would be the first one I've heard to have problems. I use them for the range, but for confidence reasons only use the mfg. 9mm. Thks. Jay |

If I'm the first that you've heard of, why don't you use yours? Quote:

bkraus5001: I don't use my 40 S&W mag for CCW carry in my USPc9 because I am unsure of the legal ramifications, and do not want to be the second person to experience a problem. :-? Jay |

I'm curious. If the AWB does sunset in September, how hard is it going to be to alter our 10 rounders to hold full capacity? Does anyone know if it will be possible at all? Jester |

Mags are a totally different design. The follower won't go past the spot where the 10 rounders floorplate attaches. Specifically designed to be a biach to alter as per the AWB.
