HK 9 mm USP Compact Automatically Slides When I Slap in Mag
The obvious answer here is probably going to be "bring it back" but after about 600-700 rounds, I think something is wrong here. When I put in mag and slap it in, the slide just slams forward. Also, it seems like the magazine "locks in" with very little pressure. It feels like it is hardly catching. It fires perfectly... no jams or failures to feeds but shouldn't I be depressing the slide release or pulling the slide back to chamber after inserting the mag? And that mag... if it goes in that easy, couldn't it just come out that easily. Any thoughts out there?

Aggressively seating the mag will send the slide forward in most all USPs; this has been noted in the past in the owner's manual. As long as the mag catch spring retains its strength and the mag release is not unitentionally depressed, the mag will not fall away on its own. In the 10 years I've had USPs, I've found these features to be more convenient than of concern.

i had a usp 9 and i loved that feature. when i bought a usp 45 the feature disappeared and i was dissapointed.
its dueto the slide stop where it hooks to the slide. the 45 has a hook and is angled to bite into the slide but the 9 mm just has a notch that contacts the slide at 90 degrees.
