What is the overall consensus on this pistol? All of the gun mags rave about it but on this forum I am seeing some issues. Thoughts?? I am looking for a pocket CCW pistol.
Also, can anyone direct me to a good Smith that can throat and polish, as well as smooth up the trigger and install sights?
I was recently shopping / researching to purchase either a Kahr MK9 or PM9, and wound up with a very slightly used MK9. It came along at the right time at the right price.
Check out other Forum's, such as sigforum.com, or the Kahr forum on Glock Talk at
Keep in mind that it is natural for folks who have problems with products to go to 'forums' to investigate the problem, discuss theirs, etc.
That said, it is my impression that there are many very happy Kahr PM9 owners out there, as well as a few disgruntled ones. I think the general consensus it that the MK9's are a little better made than the PM9's and have a better trigger 'feel'. If a little extra weight and cost is not a factor for you, then the MK9 might be a better choice.
Here is a VERY good price on a very slightly used PM9094 (PM9 with a blackened slide) on sigforum. . .
I have the little polymer 9 and have carried it everyday for about a year and a half. I forget it's there. Great little gun.
I shot mine extensively at first to make sure it was reliable. After being convinced...it sits in my pocket. I shoot a magazine through it every six months or so; just to re-enforce my belief and put fresh ammo in the mag.
For the size and weight (14.8 ozs.) I don't think there is a better pocket pistol out there. I have bought a bunch of the others through the years and have sold almost all of them.
I love my PM9, and carry it daily. It goes on in an IWB in the morning, and at night it is on the headboard of the bed. 100% reliable, good trigger, and @ 50ft, shoots into 2 1/2 inches. I put pierce grip extentions on the bottom of two mags, now I can get a full four finger grip on it, that made all the difference in the world.
For a pocket gun I would recommend it, but now I want their .45!
Thanks guys for the info. I am a small FFL dealing mostly in long guns. I went ahead and ordered a PM9 and an MK9. I will try them both and then move the one I don't want. Reliability was my main concern.
Now I just need to find a competent pistol smith in the KC area.
Thanks again.
