| CW 9 Front Sight?
Greetings everyone. I'm wondering how difficult it's going to be for someone to replace the front sight on a CW 9 with a night sight or big dot. Any ideas? |

Sorry, if you want night sights on the CW9, you're out of luck. The CW9 is a "no-frills, budget gun" designed to offer a low-end model that will sell at a lower price. One of the changes is the front sight, which is a pinned-in plastic blade. Kahr's web site specifically states that no night sight or other options can be fitted to the CW slide. |

Yes, I know about what Kahr says, that's why I asked. I know that most gunsmiths can cut a dovetail into the slide, or even a hole to stake a replacement sight. I was wondering if the "aftermarketeers" had worked out a replacement for it as the slide exists with those tiny holes. Personally, I would be willing to pay a little more for the gun if Kahr would cut a dovetail in the slide so that one could put real sights in place.

Going on the basis that "Anythings possible", it's possible a gunsmith could machine a dovetail slot in the slide. The Kahr is a bigger deal than doing this on most guns due to the wide, flat slide top requiring a much wider slot to be milled. Kahr went this way because it IS their "budget gun" and they wanted to hold the cost down as much as possible. Machining in a standard front dovetail would defeat that purpose. |

Even with the Kahr CW-9 being a "no frills" model, I would think some gunsmith could [and most likely would] cut a dovetail into the front of the CW-9's slide. |

| CW 9 front sight
My local gunsmith told me that he could cut a dovetail and put a night sight on my CW9 for about $150. Considering I paid only $400 for the gun new, that is a bit much for me to consider. In addition, my CW9 is pretty accurate for my level of skill and I'd be worried that having the sights changed might cause problems.
