Re: CW9 Mag dropped

Well an update. A bit over a week ago I called Kahr about the problem of the magazine "disengaging" at inopportune times. Sean (in Customer Service) sent me a new (steel) magazine release and a new spring. The original magazine release was polymer and he said they had trouble with those.
Replaced the spring and the magazine release and it is now tight and snug as a bug!
I would say that definitely SEAN is the one with whom to speak, as he seems to be quite responsive and caring about customer complaints.
Best to all,
Jeffro

Re: CW9 Mag dropped

I have owned a PM40 and still own a CW40. I have about 20 mags (lost count). Two of them were 5rounders. The rest are 6 or 7 rounds.

The 6 and 7 rounders will fit both pistols. NOW TO THE POINT! some times a mag would pop loose. I tracked it down to several particular mags. (all are Kahr factory). It turned out that the mag base pieces were making contact with the pistol grip which caused the mag latch to NOT FULLY INGAGE!

The cure is to file or sand the mag well until the mag will fully seat. Just BE CAREFULL, it don' take much. All new parts (mags also) should be trial fit for function before using!

I think that many of the mag drop problems with Kahr plastic frame pistols are caused by the mag not fully seating! CHECK IT OUT!

NOTE; I cut the mag well rather than play with the mag base. I feel that it was a better fix.

Re: CW9 Mag dropped

Lefty60,
Thank you for the suggestion. I checked that possibility early in the game, and it doesn't seem to apply to my particular Kahr pistols.....neither the PM-9 or the PM-45. The new magazine release and spring did solve the problem on the PM-9. When time permits, I will call Sean at Kahr regarding the PM-45 with a similar problem.
Thanks again for the suggestion.
Best regards,
Jeffro

Any modification to the mag well or base might best be left to a professional or send it back to Kahr, just my $.02.
