| CW9 Mag dropped
Hi, all- I went to the range last night, and drew my CW9 from a Nemesis in the left front pocket. Mag release is on left side of firearm and it's not ambidextrous or reversible. Of course, I'm left-handed. Whenever I drew and then fired the mag dropped repeatedly so that only one round could be fired during rapid point-shooting drill. This was 'disconcerting' to say the least. It made me wish I were right-handed! Has to be combo of my grip pulling gun out from this holster with my left hand, immediately securing gun in my hands, and force of recoil of first shot. Side of my middle finger near the base is apparently depressing the mag release button. Is there any sound mechanical way to make it more difficult to drop the magazine? I've shot about 250 rounds through so far. But when I've taken more time securing my grip and doing relaxed shooting, that mag stays in its place. The point is that with a hurried pocket quick-draw drill with rapid point-shooting I'm encountering this difficulty. Though it's my first time out doing such a drill with this weapon the end result was that I started thinking more and more about how reliable my J-frame is. But I like the Kahr more. So, anything outside of improving my technique that can be done (I do note that if I draw and hold the gun lower [contrary to the recommended 'high grasp' which I prefer] this does not pose as much of a problem, if at all). Advice appreciated as to technique AND what could be done mechanically to make it more difficult for magazine to disengage (short of 'glueing' it to the frame [ ![]() Thanks in advance. |

Assuming you're fully seating the magazine each time, light magazine springs are a "sometimes" problem with some Kahr's. I recommend contacting Kahr and tell them you have a problem. I "think" they send you a new, stronger magazine catch spring. |

I called them today but it was after-hours. Left a voicemail message with my phone number. Maybe they'll enclose a tighter spring with the extra magazine I ordered from them over the weekend. Thanks for your comment. Update: I'm also going to change my grip on the firearm and try cupping my support hand under the magazine and concurrently exert upward pressure to prevent this from occurring. I didn't contemplate this PITA happening. All my other autos that do not have reversible mag release button have catch release positioned so it hasn't been a problem or the catch requires a significant amount of pressure to release the magazine... |

I don't think that running 2 or 3 mags thereafter without incident is proof the problem has been solved. Let me know when you've run 20 mags through... Kahr is sending me a stronger magazine catch spring. Are you right or left-handed? Did that enter into the equation? |

How much? Maybe I should 'sponsor' you? Will that be 'check' or 'cash'? Or will either suffice? Well, just let me know when you get through those twenty mags-on your own dime-of course! |

I just bought a new cw9, same problem. Third or fourth shot the mag drops. I have emailed kahr this weekend, we'll see what they say. I'm sort of glad to see that someone else is having the same problem, at least they won't think I'm crazy.
