trigger travel/reset CW40

Finally got some time in on my CW40. Pretty easy shooter besides just having to learn to shoot a small .40 caliber semi. No hiccups at all in 100 rounds but HOLY CRAP is the reset terrible! I cant believe how far you have to let the trigger come back before the reset. More than once at the start of my little shooting session I thought I had a light strike or a primer fail or something but the trigger just hadnt reset yet. First I guess I should ask if this is normal on the Kahrs or at least the CW series, and if so, then what are you all doing to tune that thing to reset at bit quicker? Thanks!

Re: trigger travel/reset CW40

The Kahr works differently than a lot of other DA-only guns.
As example, the Glock has a shorter reset than the initial pull.

The Kahr doesn't, and isn't intended to.
The Kahr was intended to have a trigger that feels like a tuned S&W revolver trigger. Revolvers also don't have a shorter reset. You have to allow the trigger to go all the way forward, and the Kahr is supposed to do the same.
Since that was the intended design, there's nothing you can do to change or shorten the re-set.
It is what it is.

hmmm well at least thats the info Im looking for so thanks. I am a glock shooter but you cant deny the compactness of the Kahr which is why I picked one up, but that trigger is terrible for second shots.

Re: trigger travel/reset CW40

I tell people to shoot the Kahr like it's a revolver.
You have to "learn the trigger" and learn how to shoot a DA revolver to get the most from the Kahr.

Fortunately, I "grew up" shooting revolvers as well as autos, so I figured out the Kahr trigger quickly.
It's really not intended to be a high-output, high shooting speed pistol. It's a pure "people shooter" that was intended to be as safe as a revolver to carry, and at the time, have a familiar trigger feel to revolver-armed police.
As a high shooting speed range toy, it leaves something to be desired. As a personal defense gun, it just may be this generation's "Gold Standard" in a small auto.

Re: trigger travel/reset CW40

For first shot, I do like long travel as another safty measure, but it just doesnt make sense to me to have that same long travel after the first pull. In a defencive situation as long as you are real in tune to the gun then with the addrenaline it may not be an issue but boy can I see problems if you short stroke the reset and need that quick second shot. Also leaves more time to wobble and otherwise be inaccurate although thats more of the range talking then a" good enough" hits defence senario.
