New Kahr P40 owner

Talked to a buddy of mine who carried one in Afghanistan as a USMC scout sniper. He carries one every day now as a civilian. Good enough for me. Knew a guy who was selling one LNIB, but I went to a local gun show to hold one and see how it fit. Liked what I felt, so I went ahead and bought the LNIB one.

Took it to the range to go kill some steel plates. Shot great! Recoil is very manageable with the 180 gr FMJ's I was shooting. Hitting the center of the plates consistantly when I had one eye shut and aiming carefully. Both eyes open...not so much. Need LOTS more range time.

Love the trigger...very smooth.

Had one instance where the slide kicked open and locked (with rounds left to fire). Racked it shut and kept rolling. Noticed where my thumb was positioned, and I more than likely pushed up on the release when shooting.

super light, conceals well.

Happy camper.

The Kahr pistols are looking increasingly like todays "gold standard" in small personal defense pistols.
There's a lot to like.

Pay attention to the factory mandated 200 round break in.
Keep both the gun and magazines clean, and use only genuine Kahr magazines.

Keep the gun a little wetter with lube than usual.

Replace the recoil spring with a FACTORY spring at around every 1000 to 1500 rounds. NO "extra power" springs.

"Shoot the trigger" like the gun is a double action revolver.

Pm40

I switched to Kahr PM4044 for my EDC. It was shooting at 10% FTF during break-in, usually the first round or two in each magazine. I also had two bad magazines, one split apart and the other had a broken follower. I sent it all back after 500 rounds hoping it was just bad luck. They promptly replaced the magazines, magazine stop, recoil spring and polished the feed ramp. I haven't had a problem with the last 425 rounds. I was content with my Kimber Ultra Carry II for EDC but I'll always be in search of the ultimate CC gun. So I tried the .40 for light carry. This Kahr PM40 is so comfortable I can forget it's there and very accurate for it's size. It has become my go-to gun on a daily basis.
