Kel-Tec P3AT

Same gun, same ammo, same problem. I called Kel-tec yesterday and talked with a service rep. He stated that they were having problems with a group of weak extractors in the guns and would replace it with a new extractor. I've talked with others who have the same problem and the extractor fixed it. The guy at Kel-tec said that they would send me a new extractor and I could fix it myself if I wanted. I think all that holds it in is a roll pin.
They have a new finish, hard crome for the slides and they will do it for $20 if you send in your slide to have the extractor replaced.

You are going to find that gun will develop any number of issues if you shoot it enough. Chances are you will be able to cure the current problem by sending it in to Kel-Tec. They are very helpful. In addition, they will send you parts to try and fix the problem yourself.

My advice is once you fix it and get the gun where it works every time, stop firing it. I have personal knowledge of four P3AT's (mine and three buddies' guns). All have had some issues, but they started out by working right out of the box. One has a problem with the magazine popping out every time it is shot. They sent the fix, but it is going to be a bear to replace the part. Two others have developed FTEs, and one even FTFeed problems, that have become more pronounced. One buddy even reported his even failed to fire. Mine has had to have the extractor replaced.

We all thought that the guns could take the stress of frequent use. We even thought they might get better with continued use. We now realize that they little guns will develop problems with continued use. I do not want a gun that can be fixed repeatedly (with really good customer service). I want a gun that goes bang when I need it to.

Nope, I have over 3000 rounds through my P-3AT without a single problem. I understand these guns and I know what makes them tick. I clean ALL my guns once a week.

I vote with Tuco; the P3s have issues.

Three things can happen if you get a P3
-You get lucky and get a good one that works
-You get unlucky and get a cranky one (or two, or three...)
-You are a gifted gun tinkerer (flyer et al) that can MAKE a P3 work

Do yourself a favor; go with the P-32 and shoot it in moderation.
