I have a Kimber Pro CDP with approx 1000 rounds thru it. It is three months old. I just pulled back the slide and both the ambi safties dropped off the gun??? There doesn't seem to be a break but rather both sides let loose and fell out...any advice?
I will call CS at Kimber in the morning but am curious as to what the problem would be.
Found the problem...metal fatigued at back end of the safty where it actually attaches to the frame...clean hairline break...going back to Kimber today for warranty work
Do you know any thumb safetys that are not cast or MIM? I looked for one a few weeks ago and couldn't identify one that was forged or bar stock construction. What would you replace it with?
I don't know how they are made but I replaced my Kimber Custom's Safety with and Ed Brown Ambi. I wasn't worried about MIM parts or any of that sewage, I shoot left handed and needed the Ambi. But the Ed Brown has been on my gun for more that 3 years so I have no complaints. Sean
Gun was new...all original parts...had a hairline fracture at the base of the left side of the ambi safety right in front of the pin that holds it in place...one quick call to Dennis at the custom shop and he mailed me replacements under warranty.
