| Sarco 1911 parts kits are junk
Just wanted to let people know about sarco 1911 parts kits. There junk, most all the parts need some type of work to them since they are castings and dont fit, they barrel groves were ok but that was all, there was flux comming from were it was attached. Had springs that were completly bent out of shape. And here is the kicker I ordered this kit in jan. no one mintioned anything about back ordered parts,so when i called to check on the status of the shipment after 2 weeks they tell me the slides are on back order and they said someone should have let me know at that time but didnt. The reason for my rant is i called today to check on it and to try an get a replacement spring in exchange for the defective one, and they say they dont know when it will be in because they have to get at least 200 orders in before they will order for a restock, said they have people waiting since jan.. i knew that i might have some problems but this is truly unbeliveably.

A good rule of thumb is to not buy 1911 parts kits. They're invariably made up of cheap gun show type cast steel parts that are always out of spec in at least some areas. If you want to build a gun or replace parts in a worn old one, buy the parts by the piece from a quality supplier like Brownell's and buy the name brand parts. This will cost more, but you get good parts that fit correctly and if you have a problem with one, Brownell's is famous for their customer service. |

Yea I know, I did it mosltly as a training and in helping me become a better gunsmith I figure if I can make them work and to work safely it wight have been worth it. Took the parts to a friend who has been building for some years and had him inspect them there were only a hand full of parts he said he would use. So I decided to build a 22 cal. out of the parts. My frames were also from ssarco miked feelings on them also.
