Colt Double Eagle
I am looking to replace the plastic backstrap I have for a metal one. Any idea where I can try? Thank you for your consideration.

I don't know of any sources for something like that.
Colt only made the DA model for a few years and they never made many spare parts.
Almost no one ever made aftermarket parts or accessories due to the short production life.
These were so rarely bought that I never saw one in the shop.
I have no idea if the factory part was plastic or metal on some models.

My recommendation would be to talk with a skilled 1911 gunsmith about perhaps modifying a beavertail grip safety into where the plastic part is. Of course that grip safety would have to be fixed in place and not pivot or function like it does in a 1911.
I had an Ed Brown Bobtail Mainspring Housing fitted into one of my Double Eagles. The gunsmith who did the work for me liked it so much he did it to his own carry 1911.
