I can't tell you about the major but I have a minor and love it. I had a couple of problems with it and called DW, they had FedEx at my house the next day, picked it up and fixed everything including adding a full length guide rod and sent it back for free. Their customer service is excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, I will probably buy the major next.

price of major

This is a great price for a major. It is at wholesale price level. Dan Wesson is the new kid on the block for 1911 style pistols and they are working thier tails off to make it work.
I think Wesson is a great product. what dealer do you use, I may have to go see what they have a minor priced at?

When you check their web-site, they never have many guns in stock.
As far as I know they still haven't come out with their new line of
pistols that was suppost to be out in June. I hear that some distributors
are having a hard time getting guns.
Makes me wonder how stable this company is even with new owners.

I spoke to the factory the other day and they are tooled up and producing their new "Patriot" model 1911. They have them in the street for sale and I have fired one back in June.
They shoot very well.
I have to say they are a little slow in the build lots of copies department but they have always had what I asked them for.
Is there something in particular that I might be able to help you find?
a price?

The Majors are going for $530 around here, the minors with the cast slides are about $100 cheaper. I was impressed with the majors I looked at except for the sights, there Novak style is much better looking IMO.
