As stated I like the Makarov. I bought my first Circle 10 as a cheap-o try it it and see. It didn't take me long to see it is a very well made little pistol. It is all steel and very rugged. It is also very accurate. I like the compact size. The only criticism I would have is the trigger pull. I have managed to lighten it significantly but it is still creepy. I suspect this is likely due to the design. I realize there are trigger specialists out there who can produce a superb trigger on the Mak. But that investment at least at this point would reduce the appeal for me.
I kind of like the idea that a $135 mil spec, ~3'' barreled pistol will hold round after round on a paper plate at 25yards in my shaky hands as she came.
I don't understand the distain so many people have for the Makarov Pistol and the 9mmMak cartridge.

Granted it isn't my first choice for a defensive handgun but it certainly is very useful.

Recently bought a $99.00 Makarov from Centerfire Systems and couldn't be happier. I know we saw quite a few of these pistols back in Vietnam, and I even "borrowed" one from a NVA that no longer had use of it. I really wish I'd kept that one now.
The pistols seem to have classic European styling, simplicity, and built to last. I can really see why experienced Makarov owners say, "you can't have just one!"
