| P-16 Problem
Hey guys/gals, first post so bear with me. Recently purchased a new P16-40, ran 200 rounds through for break-in and thats where the problem ocurred. The trigger would not reset consistantly after 100 rounds and hardly at all after 150. I took the pistol apart when I got home and inspected the different parts and their function. The beavertail safety did not adequately clear the trigger bow so I fixed that thinking it would solve the problem. Since I haven't had a chance to shoot it again I'm still not sure if it's fixed. This is where it gets interesting. Not satisfied that it could be that easy, further inspection revealed that the magazines are rubbing the trigger bow when pushed hard to the left side. The bow generously clears the mags when out of the gun. It looks like the slots for the trigger bow are not cut deep enough. My question, for anyone who can answer, is how deep should those slots be cut? |

| PARA 16/40
You can see My post concernin' the 16/40 Limited on Wild Bill Caldwell..View From the Hills. The area for the trigger bow to run in needs to be as deep as the side of the trigger bow is thick. I replaced the Para trigger(16/40 Limited) with a Gun Craft trigger....A little better fit but still some slop. Original Para trigger could move in all directions, Mag might have helped to keep the trigger bow located in the general vicinity of the pistol. Bill Caldwell |

Bill, Thanks for the info, sorry you have such a low opinion of Para-Ordnance. I did some work on th trigger bow raceway that dramaticaly improved trigger pull. The magazine can still bind the trigger if force but it seems unlikely to happen in normal use. Worked up some loads in both minor and major power with my cast bullets. The trigger problem is gone and only normal tweaking is left to be done. Accuracey is excellent and with my usual feed lip mod on the magazines SWC's feed without a hitch. Thanks again, Sparky |
