.41 magnum

Sirs:

I wish to covert my Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum to .41 Magnum. Would like to make the barrel to 8 3/8 " with Mag-na-Porting.

Please let me know who could do this work or furnish at least the cylinder.

Thanks very much for your help.

I would recommend Bowen Classic Arms for a custom, oversized cylinder, and the rest of the work if you want a full house gun with proper markings and all. You could just get a cylinder for a Blackhawk in .41 Mag from Ruger or Gun Parts corp and have it rebarreled. Also, you could keep or sell the Super Blackhawk, buy a Blackhawk in .41, have a Super Grip Frame, hammer, and trigger installed, and have the factory barrel ported or replaced.

I am an avid .41 Mag shooter and own 3 Rugers in that caliber, two custom and one stock. IMHO, unless you are extremely recoil sensitive and noise insensitive, you don't need mag-na-porting on a long barrel in .41, or anything over 5" for that matter. Just my $0.02. Hope that helped.

The joy of .41 is that you can shoot it half again as much as
the .44's with less abuse...Still love both of mine!

Stop it already.

I saw a Model 58 at a gun show on Sunday with a $375 sticker and I've been kicking myself for not buying it all day.

In one of the many gun books or magazines cluttering my house I saw a great article on the .41 Special, the greatest cartridge that never was. Consider making up some of those. At my most recent trip to the range I shot the rest of a big box of .38 specials, and 6 .357s in my classic model 66 snubby, and about 36 .44 specials and 2 .44 mags in my 4.7/8 inch blackhawk. Ouch ! They just aren't as much fun as they used to be. (My proclivity for smaller guns hurts here).
