Webley Mark I

I have aquired a Mark I Webley that has been modified to shoot .45ACP, The frame is tight but the ratchet at the back of the cylinder is worn, and there is a screw missing that holds the cylinder in the frame.
I was wondering if anyone can point me in the proper direction for parts and or repair.
Thanks,
WalterB

I am sorry to tell you I would NOT reccomend you to shoot factory or equivalent .45acp in a Webley Mark one! A mark 5 or Mark 6 is ok if properly converted but a mark one is a black powder gun and would really not be safe to shoot. Better retire the old boy it makes a wonderful display piece, I use one for that very purpose.

webley Mark I

I was thinking the same thing when I found that the date of manufacture was prior to 1900. Black powder may be the thing if I ever find parts.
Thanks for the warning.

Webley

I have a mark 1 and agree 45acp loads are not appropriate for this old timer. I have shot however hundreds of 210 to 255gr. lead cast bullets with Unique through this black powder revolver.. Cartridges of the World provides several loads yielding 600 t0 650 fps with cast bullets. Loads should resemble 45 S&W Schofield.I began loading at approx 60% and did not excede 70% of 45 acp.Bullets were sized to .454 and shooting proved surprisingly accurate and pleasant. My Mark 1 is tight and sound and I suggest a smith check yours. I would alo be careful with any commercial loads for this gun in .455.
