I have two small J frame size 38's with maybe 1000 rounds thru the both, never had any problems other than when shooting dirty ammo the cylinder binds after about 30 rounds on one, the other just keeps shooting. Gerald |

ftstinyc-- A friend of mine bought a used Rossi J frame sized 5 shot 38 about a year ago and had significant troubles with the timing and binding of the cylinder. He sent it back to Rossi and many months later they sent it back to him and the darn thing still would not operate properly. He took it back to the dealer that he bought it from initially and traded it on another type of gun. Too bad. I hope that this one example is not an indicator of their overall quality! |

The first revolver I bought was a Rossi 642. Very good gun, hits where you aim, weight is good. Don't hesitate to buy if you get the chance.

I have a 971 VRC 4". I have had it for about 5 years and have never had a failure of any type. I pull the trigger and it goes bang. The fit is very good as is the finish, sights are very clear and easy to adquire when drawing from a holster, 38's shoot as well as 357's (2"-3" groups at 10 yards, fast firing). I would recomend a Rossi to anyone who is looking for a good gun at a fair price.

My take on Rossi revolvers is that the quality seems to vary greatly from gun to gun and the comments here seem to support that. Some are terrific and some are dogs. I also haven't heard many good reports about Rossi customer service so if you do get a bad one you are SOL. Let the buyer beware. If you want to buy one, inspect it carefully before you pay for it. |
